The firebombing of Dresden was not a 'millitary' action it was a political statement to Stalin.
""There were no heavy industries in Desden to speak of, and it was of no military significance. It was, however, a city swollen with refugees fleeing the Red Army, who were advancing from their position only 60 miles away. It was also a hospital center for British, Canadian, American, and German wounded. For those morbidly interested .. the conventional firebombing(missions) of the Japenese and German Cities caused more deaths then either of the Atomic bombs dropped.
Despite what historical revisioinist say.. dropping the atomic bomb on the 'millitary' targets (yes there were millitary targets in both cities) probably saved many American lives.
Dresden was a demonstration.. and I think wrong.
Author's note. My mother lived in Germany during World War II and recalls being bombed by the British (it was at night so ..). I believe that war was just and right. The Dresden raid was Churchill telling Stalin to back off.. with folk like you and me paying the price.
